In May 2006, a group of
Waterboro residents met to discuss the formation of a local land trust whose
goal would be to protect and preserve town owned parcels of land that hold
scenic, historic or recreational value. 14 citizens joined as founding
members and the Waterboro Land Trust was born.
Since then, the trust has grown in
membership, has received overwhelming support from Waterboro residents and
is in the process of having some town owned lands transferred to the
ownership of the land trust.
The members of the Waterboro Land
Trust are a diverse group comprised of Waterboro residents and land owners
whose interest include historic and wildlife conservation, land preservation
and various forms of outdoor recreation. Dedicated to preserving the
rural quality of life that Waterboro residents enjoy, the group is focused
on ensuring that our community has open space for people to enjoy today,
tomorrow and many years into the future.
Please look around our website and
learn more about this growing land trust. Meetings are held on the 4th
Wednesday of the month at Waterboro Town Hall and new members are always
welcomed.
